The EAB, an increasingly used alternative

The electrically-assisted bicycle (EAB) is a bicycle with an electric motor whose purpose is to provide pedaling assistance to the cyclist. A bike for all disciplines

We are seeing more and more e-bike competitions with specific equipment and in particular electrically assisted mountain bikes (VTTAE). On the road cycling side, electric assistance is becoming more and more popular. With an electric road bike, you can enjoy the road, faster and with less effort. Although the addition of a battery can increase the weight of the bike, some models do not lose anything to their aesthetics and their aerodynamics. In fact, there is little impact on the total weight with a battery integrated in the frame. On the sport side, the EAB allows you to start without too much effort and to restart quickly when you stop. On hills, it allows you to make less effort and helps you to surpass yourself.

Components and parts of an electric bicycle

The presence of a motor on an electric bicycle generates faster speeds, greater forces and higher torque. This is why it is necessary to equip them with wheels designed to meet these various constraints. Thus, to support their weight, electric bicycle wheels are generally more resistant. While keeping a low weight, EAB wheels are therefore more robust than conventional wheels and reduce the risk of punctures or malfunctions. They also have a rim profile and a number of spokes adapted to the greater weight of an electric bike. It is important to take into account all these specificities in order to have the most efficient e-bike possible.
